Where to Route a San Miguel County Release Question

For a current custody check at the county jail, contact San Miguel County Jail, 684 County Road 63L, Telluride, CO 81435. The jail phone is 970-728-1911, and the Sheriff's Activity Logs page directs custody questions to that line 24 hours a day.

For Sheriff's Office records questions, use the San Miguel County Criminal Justice Records Request process. Administrative Records handles criminal justice records held by the Sheriff's Office, including inmate information and media. Questions may go to 970-728-4442 or records@sanmiguelsheriff.org. The county uses the Activity Logs page for Booking Summary and Current Inmate List PDFs, and the Criminal Justice Records Request form for formal record requests.

For a person sentenced to a Colorado state prison, use the Colorado Department of Corrections Offender Search rather than the county jail list. For custody-change alerts in participating Colorado systems, use Colorado VINE / VINELink online or call 1-888-263-8463.

  • Released inmate or release-record research starts with the home page, which covers the county activity reports, phone confirmation, court checks, and records-request steps.
  • Post-release supervision questions are separated on the parole / probation page because CDOC parole and 7th Judicial District probation are different systems.
  • Recent-release questions should begin with the Released Last 24 Hours page, which explains that San Miguel County does not publish a separate rolling release feed in the sources reviewed.
  • Release-date and alert questions belong with the Inmate Release Date guide and the VINELink Release Check page.
  • Facility-specific questions should use the San Miguel County Jail page linked in the footer.
  • State-prison records should be checked through CDOC, especially when a county case resulted in a prison sentence or parole supervision.
  • Federal and immigration custody questions move outside the county system to the BOP locator or ICE Online Detainee Locator System.
